My boss kept me on after a team meeting to tell me he knows I want to be a manager — then invited me to sit in on a new hire interview. At the end, he told the candidate: 'RollsRoyce is the one who decides if we hire you.' He later confirmed they won't be hiring externally. The path is mine if I want it. Wild how I'd been pushing for exactly this for five months, getting ignored — and all of this started within one week of beginning my stack.
